Frequently Asked Questions: For Districts

What kind of data sets will you require from the districts for participation in FOR-PD?

Any dataset FOR-PD requests will be one you already have. We won't ask for a special format either. Possible requests might be demographic information or test scores to help us analyze the success of the FOR-PD program.

How many courses can a district offer?

Districts can offer the FOR-PD course as frequently as they wish. The only requirement is that each section of the course be "full." Although we recommend allowing an average of one week per lesson, districts can modify that schedule as needed. For example, some have suggested offering the course as a summer institute.

What kind of computers and technologies are needed to access this course?

Participants will need Internet access and a current web browser that supports Javascript. Many home and school computers meet the minimum hardware and software requirements for the course.

Can any district participate?

Yes! We would like to have as many districts participate as are interested. District registration information is available online along with a district collaboration agreement.

How does the district offer the course and register participants?

The FOR-PD course is handled much like any other professional development course that is offered in the district. The district registration page at has information on how to offer the course.

Who pays the facilitator's stipend?

FOR-PD pays the standard facilitator stipend. If a district wishes to ask the facilitator to take on additional duties, any additional compensation will be the responsibility of the district.
