Dr. Donna BaumbachIntroduction: Over recent years school library media centers have come into focus with regard to student achievement. Researchers such as Keith Lance Curry and Marcus Rodney have provided valuable research on the importance and need of having quality library media centers run by trained media center specialist. In October of 2003, Dr. Donna Baumbach, the Director of SUNLINK-Florida's State Union Catalog of K-12 Public School Library Media Holdings, distributed the study Making the Grade: The Status of School Library Media Centers in the Sunshine State and How They Contribute to Student Achievement. This study provides an examination concerning the role of library media programs and the part they play in K-12 schools.
