Dr. Donna Baumbach
Over
recent years school library media centers have come into focus with regard
to student achievement. Researchers such as Keith Lance Curry and Marcus Rodney
have provided valuable research on the importance and need of having quality
library media centers run by trained media center specialist. In October of
2003, Dr. Donna Baumbach, the Director of SUNLINK-Florida's State Union Catalog
of K-12 Public School Library Media Holdings, distributed the study Making
the Grade: The Status of School Library Media Centers in the Sunshine State
and How They Contribute to Student Achievement. This study provides an examination
concerning the role of library media programs and the part they play in K-12
schools.
